What kind of work do you do at Sparta Finance?
I started in the loan industry more than 14 years ago and worked my way up to running a “Rent-to-Own” store. My passion for this industry fit like a perfect puzzle piece when I felt the joy of serving others. Being able to meet people’s needs during their most difficult times brings me joy. Initially, I was surprised when others told me I should try retail, but I took their advice and began in the automotive industry about 12 years ago. My passion grew from there. Now I am the proud founder of Sparta Finance. Our slogan is “WE WILL GO TO WAR FOR YOU!” because we truly do what it takes to put people first in order to get them the best result, the lowest rate, the best product to fit their needs, and empower and educate them along the way. You can count on us to carry you on our shields!
What is your favorite quote or life lesson?
“Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.” It was on the wall of my school when I was growing up and I remember how profound I thought it was. I have lived my life this way ever since.
Where is your hometown?
I am originally from B.C., but grew up in Winnipeg, MB. I have now been in Edmonton, AB since 2005.
What do you love most about helping others?
I have had some stumbles in my life and had to start over a few times. I know what it is like to have to climb your way back up and if I can help someone on that journey, I can only hope they will pay it forward in some way.
Where are your top 3 favorite places and why?
B.C. in general is one of my favourite places. I spent some time there in my late teens and early twenties and I fell in love with the attitude and scenery.
California was pretty awesome and I would very much like to go back. So much to see and do there.
Banff was an amazing experience I had the opportunity to share with my family. With horseback riding, white water rafting, and dining in such a beautiful place, it was really special.
Who is your favorite superhero, hero, character or person and why?
Jarlaxle from the Dark Elf series written by R.A. Salvatore is usually regarded as a villain, but he is my favourite character because he proves that all of us have a caring side and can step up to help others when needed. He has helped many and changed countless lives all while maintaining a persona of one who is only self-serving. (I guess you could say it’s his secret identity lol).
What is your favorite food?
My favourite foods would have to be steak and seafood. I would eat them daily if possible.
Outside of your financing profession, what is your passion?
I am a computer geek “wanna be” and dabble in many tech things. Gaming, reading and writing books are also passions of mine. My biggest passion is my family and doing things for them and with them.
What makes you extraordinary?
Organisation and details are the skills that set me apart from others. Some may call it OCD, but they have been my strengths for so long they’re second nature. My good nature would be something of an anomaly as well since I’m happy almost all the time lol.
